Category 27: Sidtaps and Gidtaps

The sidtaps and gidtaps (also called baby monster snubs) are a sort of appetizer for the idcossids and dircospids. The sidtaps are the members of the sadsadox regiment, while the gidtaps belong to the gadsadox regiment. With the exception of the first two of each regiment, they are all chiral. They have hyic symmetry with 3600 vertices. Sidtap verfs are formed by blending the verfs of two oct containing rox members together at a square (oct verf), likewise for gidtaps, except you use rigfix members. Sadsadox is actually the blended form of the compound of 10 roxes, while gadsadox is the blended compound of 10 raggixes - when blended they become true polychora. I discovered these along with the idcossid and dircospid regiments in 1997. The name sidtap and gidtap came from the archaic short names of the baby monsters (sidtapsadix and gidtapsadix for example - the "dtap" part of sidtap and gidtap stood for ditriangular antiprismatosnub - which I later shortened to disnub). I have yet to section any of these myself, but they have been done by Michael Roedel (who credit goes for the pics below with black background) and can be done on Robert Webb's Stella4D software (which tends to add more holes to the figures due to its filling methods). There are 9 members in each regiment where the first three in each are tame and the others wild, giving this category eighteen members which have cool sounding names.

Sidtaps

This is the sadsadox regiment which has 9 members, many of the members look similar, since all of them have 4800 octs in the form of 2400 "2octs" - a compound of two octs that look like the antiprism of a golden ratio 2 triangle compound (the golden ratio 2 triangle compound looks like the verf of the 5cube compound). There are also many scaliform members in this regiment, however many of these lack the 2octs, making them look very different. Other comboes seen in this regiment are the following: 2ike - the uniform compound of two ikes, ike-gad - one of the ikes in the 2ike is turned to a gad, and 2tid - the truncation of the compound of two dodecahedra.

Sadsadox

1474. Sadsadox - (SAD sa dox) small disnub dis600. Its cells (or better yet "combocells" - which is a compound of cells) are 600 2ikes and 2400 2octs. Its the blended 10-rox. I figured this object had holes right after I found it, simply because a 10 rox compound would have a density of 10, and where the blending would occur happens on 5-oct compounds which are doubled up - giving a density of ten for the doubled 5-oct - so when the 10-rox blends - the doubled 5-oct would blend out leaving icosahedral holes in their cores. This polychoron is hollow with 120 ike shaped openings to the outside. It has 148,200 pieces in 18 types, LOC = 392 - and guess what, its the simplest polychoron in this category - so get ready for some doozies.

1475. Sidsadox - (SID sa dox) small inverted disnub dis600. Its "combocells" are 600 2tids and 2400 2octs. Its the blended 10-rixhi. It has 2,020,800 pieces in 152 types, LOC = 5288.

1476. Sidsoxix - (sid SOK six) small disnub 600-600. Its cells (I'll use the word cells to also include combocells, however the actual cells are not the comboes - but the individual polyhedra in those comboes) are 600 ikes, 600 tids, and 2400 2octs. Its verf looks like an incased spindle, with a tunnel going completely around the spindle part. It is the blend of 5-rox and 5-rixhi. It has 891,600 pieces with 127 types, LOC = 6470.

1477. Sidsaxadox - (sid SAK sa dox) small disnub 600dis600. Its cells are 600 ike-gads, 600 saddids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-rox and 5-ipixady. It has 649,200 pieces with 94 types, LOC = 3874.

1478. Sidsadixox - (sid SAD ik sox) small disnub dis600-600. The cells are 600 ike-gads, 600 srids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-rox and 5-nipixady - by blending out some oct cells from the nipixadies - it opens up the inside, so it no longer copy cats the previous polychoron which blends with ipixady (nipixady's copycat). It has 498,000 pieces in 71 types, LOC = 2266.

1479. Sisdasadex - (sis DAS a dex) small snubdisnub dis600. Cells are 600 ikes, 600 saddids, 2400 2octs, and 3600 pips. Its the blend of 5-rox and 5-lifpipixhi. It has 498,000 pieces in 71 types, LOC = 2174.

1480. Sadistex - (suh DIS tix) small disnub tris600. The cells are 600 gads, 600 tids, 600 saddids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-rixhi and 5-ipixady. It has 1,330,800 pieces with 190 types, LOC = 9478 - enough to make anyone go sadistex.

1481. Sidsaxixox - (sid SAK sik sox) small disnub 600-600-600. Its cells are 600 gads, 600 tids, 600 srids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-rixhi and 5-nipixady. It has 798,000 pieces with 114 types, LOC = 5366.

1482. Sidsosadex - (sid SOS a dex) small disnubsnub dis600. Its cells are 600 tids, 600 saddids, 2400 2octs, and 3600 pips. Its the blend of 5-rixhi and 5-lifpipixhi. It has 724,800 pieces in 102 types, LOC = 4296.

Gidtaps

This is the gadsadox regiment which also has 9 members, they also all have 2400 2octs. There are also many scaliform members in this regiment, however many of these lack the 2octs, making them look very different. Other comboes seen in this regiment are the following: 2gike - the uniform compound of two gikes, gike-sissid - one of the gikes in the 2gike is turned to a sissid, and 2quit gissid - the conjugate of 2tid. Beware, these get really complex.

Gadsadox

1483. Gadsadox - (GAD sa dox) great disnub dis600. Its cells are 600 2gikes and 2400 2octs. Its the blended 10-raggix. It has 1,058,400 pieces in 74 types, LOC = 3018.

1484. Gidsadox - (GID sa dox) great inverted disnub dis600. Its cells are 600 2quit gissids and 2400 2octs. Its the blended 10-frogfix. It has 3,009,600 pieces in 218 types, LOC = 10210 - now you can REALLY fix those frogs with gidsadox.

1485. Gidsoxix - (gid SOK six) great disnub 600-600. Its cells are 600 gikes, 600 quit gissids, and 2400 2octs. It is the blend of 5-raggix and 5-frogfix. It has 1,461,600 pieces with 203 types, LOC = 10748.

1486. Gidsaxadox - (gid SAK sa dox) great disnub 600dis600. Its cells are 600 gike-sissids, 600 gaddids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-raggix and 5-omfapaxady. It has 1,051,200 pieces with 146 types, LOC = 8100.

1487. Gidsadixox - (gid SAD ik sox) great disnub dis600-600. The cells are 600 gike-sissids, 600 qrids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-raggix and 5-mif pixady. It has 648,000 pieces in 90 types, LOC = 4408.

1488. Gisdasadex - (gis DAS a dex) great snubdisnub dis600. Cells are 600 gikes, 600 gaddids, 2400 2octs, and 3600 stips. Its the blend of 5-raggix and 5-ofpipixhi. It has 2,448,000 pieces in 340 types, LOC = 18964.

1489. Gadistex - (guh DIS tix) great disnub tris600. The cells are 600 sissids, 600 quit gissids, 600 gaddids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-frogfix and 5-omfapaxady. It has 1,800,000 pieces with 250 types, LOC = 11924.

1490. Gidsaxixox - (gid SAK sik sox) great disnub 600-600-600. Its cells are 600 sissids, 600 quit gissids, 600 qrids, and 2400 2octs. Its the blend of 5-frogfix and 5-mif pixady. It has 1,173,600 pieces with 163 types, LOC = 8436.

1491. Gidsosadex - (gid SOS a dex) great disnubsnub dis600. Its cells are 600 quit gissids, 600 gaddids, 2400 2octs, and 3600 stips. Its the blend of 5-frogfix and 5-ofpipixhi. It has 3,312,000 pieces in 460 types, LOC = 24724. Gidsosadex is the most complex of the baby monsters.
